Copenhagen, Climate Change & Boris Johnson’s Electric-powered Porsche
The UN Climate Change Summit at Copenhagen is currently in full-flow, although campaigners report that there’s still been very little real substance to the discussion so far, and no real pledges or agreements have been made.
I’ve followed the campaigning group Avaaz for a couple of years now. Today I got an email asking to sign their last ditch petition to try and get some kind of serious resolution from the summit.
I’d love it if you could spare two minutes today to sign their petition online. Like I said I strongly recommend and advocate Avaaz.org to you – they are a brilliant and trustworthy organisation who campaign and lobby on many important human rights and climate related issues – and they make a difference.
I’ve also recently become a big fan of the activist-journalism of George Monbiot. Today the Guardian have released the newest in a series of his video interviews with different political figures.
Watch him interview the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, about the congestion charge and see Boris’ attempt to dodge questions with the classic “would you drive an electric-powered Porsche?” tactic.
